The Department of Adult Intensive Care (AICU) at The University of Hong Kong – Shenzhen Hospital is a comprehensive ICU guided by modern critical care principles and international standards. It provides 24-hour organ function monitoring and support for patients with reversible critical illnesses, offering services in general critical care, advanced hemodynamics monitoring, percutaneous tracheostomy, renal replacement therapy, blood purification therapies, and extracorporeal membrane oxygenation.

The AICU team includes medical, nursing, and allied health professionals such as physical therapists, clinical pharmacists, and dietitians, working together to deliver safe, high-quality, patient‑centered care.

The unit provides a full range of organ support technologies—including mechanical ventilation, continuous blood purification, extracorporeal membrane oxygenation, intra-aortic balloon pump support, cardiac pacing, bedside ultrasound, and bedside EEG—to support the treatment and recovery of critically ill patients.
